Project Progress Update – Period 3
It is important to review a project’s progress regularly to ensure that it’s on track and delivering what it is set out to do. In the case of Impact Diabetes B2B, our main funder, the European Commission (EC), asks for periodic project progress reports usually every 18 months.
Our third reporting period, January 2023 to June 2024, required submission of our written project progress report by the end of August 2024, and a formal project review with the European Commission and external assessors took place in September 2024. We recently received the project progress review report and we were delighted to receive positive feedback, with some constructive recommendations for the remainder of the project.
What have we achieved
Our project achievements in this period included:
- Ethical compliance monitoring was completed as all clinical sites (Ireland, UK, Spain, and Australia) finished the randomised controlled trial (RCT) in 2023. The final number of completed RCT participants is 585.
- Data collection was completed in early 2024 following the completion of the blood samples analyses. The data has been cleansed and the analysis is almost finalised.
- All required project documents were delivered to a high standard with timely deliverables submission and milestone achievement.
- Tea parties were held for the RCT participants in Dublin, Bristol and online in Granada.
- Two General Assemblies were held, one in Copenhagen in April 2023 and one in Dublin in April 2024.
- The project has continued to raise stakeholder awareness via social media posts, articles, blogs, newsletters and conference presentations.
- Two successful implementation forums were held to engage policy and healthcare stakeholders.
- Seven papers were published with plenty more underway!
The remaining eight months of the project are focused on finalising the analysis of the trial data, writing and publication of papers including the primary outcome paper, holding a final online forum in November 2024, production of the implementation toolkit and organising four Implementation Workshops in Australia, Ireland, Spain and the UK which will take place in 2025.
There is still a lot to do but we are looking forward to the challenge and seeing everything come together!
