Prof Helle Terkildsen Maindal

Helle is a Professor of Health Promotion at the Department of Public Health at Aarhus University. She holds a Master in Public Health as well as a PhD in Medicine. Helle has been working at the interface of research, teaching and practice in public health and health promotion for decades. She is also a senior researcher at Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen and an honoured Professor at Deakin University, Australia, where she works with health promotion interventions and health literacy. Her main research area is intervention methodology, e.g. setting up and investigating programmes for the prevention of diabetes and other non-communicable diseases using innovative approaches including multi-level, co-production strategies. Helle is the PI for the Face-it study, an RCT, focusing on the prevention of diabetes in families after gestational diabetes, as well as PI for the Danish HeLP Study (Health Literacy in Pregnancy). Furthermore, Helle is the national chair of the Danish Health Literacy Network and an active member of the global network for health literacy. Her role in Bump2Baby and Me is to support and contribute to the health literacy aspects.
